Hydrangea – Geological
2019
Hand-cut paper sculpture from a vintage geological map
43.5 cm h x 21.5 cm w (Framed) / 17″ h x 8″ w (framed
This piece is delicatly hand-cut from a vintage geological map, transforming scientific data into the lace-like structure of a hydrangea.
Unlike my kinetic flocks of birds, this work is a quiet, botanical study. The map’s pastel tonesperfectly mimic the variegated petals of a hydrangea. The intricate cutting reveals the fragility of the paper while casting subtle shadows against the backing, giving the two-dimensional map a three-dimensional organic presence.
This piece is sold framed in a white box frame, ready to hang.
