California Dreaming is a site-specific commission created for the Moreno Medical Centre. The diptych celebrates the natural beauty of the region, bringing the outside world into the healing environment.

Constructed from digital archival prints of California maps, the artworks explore the relationship between the land we inhabit and the nature that surrounds us. By  hand-cutting the maps into the shapes of local birds and wildflowers, the rigid lines of geography are softened into organic forms. The “California Dreaming” title reflects both the aspirational nature of the state and the ethereal, floating quality of the shadows cast by the paper on the wall.
