A Good Year For the Roses

Here are my beautiful paper roses. The title comes from the Elvis Costello song A Good Year for the Roses. The colours of the map remind me of the fading petals of roses. I love the Japanese concept of mono no aware – the appreciation of the impermanence things. This is what I’m trying to capture in my work. To capture that impermanence, it’s a feeling and appreciation of nature for what it is. The Japanese are so good at that sort of thing. It’s a lifelong study.
