The lovely piece above is for an exhibition in August this year celebrating the total eclipse that’s happening in the US.
The exhibition is called Eclipse: A Celebration of Our Earth Moon and Sky. It takes place from 17 August to 5 September at Diehl Gallery – further details here. The gallery is in Jackson Hole, that will be in the direct path of the eclipse.
I made the piece from pages from an Atlas of The Heavens.
I was thinking about how an eclipse is the opposite of normal. Day becomes night. So I decided to use a black background and a light map as this is definitely not normal for me.
The maps were very pale so they really work beautifully on the dark background. The piece is framed in a black frame and looks pretty peachy even if I do say so myself!
