29 Jun The Red Knot
Here you can see more photos of my piece commissioned by the Audubon Society (read all about that here).
I wasn’t familiar with the Red Knot (also known as the Red Breasted Sandpiper) before this commission but I’m really glad I discovered it!
The Red Knot is amazing bird, it migrates from Southern Argentina all the way up to the Canadian Arctic stopping off in the Delaware Bay on the way, that’s a journey of nearly 19,000 miles.
I am constantly amazed by the migration journeys that birds make mostly despite our human attempts to destroy their feeding and breading areas. I love the imperative that the birds have to migrate.
It is for sale, please contact me if you are interested in buying it.
