The Illustrated Aviary

I’m so excited that I can now tell you about one of the most amazing commissions I’ve ever had.

A few months ago I was contacted by the Audubon Society asking if I would would be interesting in doing a commission for their magazine. That would be a HELL YES!

I love the work of James Audubon, and the work that the Audubon Society does in relation to conservation and ecology in America. It is not as well know here in the UK but really is huge in the US. You can read all about it here.

Above you can see my page in the latest edition of the Audubon Society magazine.

I was given the Red Knot as the bird to illustrate. It was not a bird that I was familiar with so it was really interesting to research the bird and then get to make a piece of work that would then feature alongside an illustration by James Audubon.

I can’t tell you how exciting this was for me. To know that the Audubon Society were familiar with my work and wanted to feature it in their magazine, dreams really do come true!
