Kew Gardens Orchid Festival

I finally made it to the Kew Gardens Orchid Festival. I can’t believe what I’ve been missing all these years. I couldn’t get my lazy ass over to Kew in time and it really was my loss. It was even more amazing than I imagined.

I went with my parents on a Sunday morning and it was very busy but still worth it. The displays were breathtaking. The theme this year was Brazil and carnival. Orchids are such happy flowers that they really easily fit that brief.

The colours, their delicacy and the markings on the flowers. There are so many things to love about orchids. It’s hard to believe how many different types there are from the big bold and brassy to the delicate spidery and ethereal.

It’s sadly finished for this year but it’s well worth putting in your diary for next. It runs for a month February to March.

I took hundreds of photos here are the (very) edited highlights.  It was very inspirational and there will for sure be some orchid works coming up, you can see one I’ve already made here.
