The Picasso Museum

I first went to the Picasso Museum in about 1995 and I guess it had become one of those magical memories for me. I’d wanted to go back for a long time but it had been closed for the last 5 years for refurbishment. Finally it reopened last year. During my recent trip to Paris we finally got to visit.

What can I say, I was a bit disappointed. All they seemed to have done is sucked the soul out of the place. I’m not sure why all museums want to look the same, but that seems to be the case. The building that the Picasso Museum is in is extraordinary yet when you are inside for most of it you could be anywhere. It is a huge museum with a lot of stairs so be warned. There’s a good article in the Guardian about the problems with the museum (click here to read).

Talking of stairs, the main staircase is absolutely amazing, you can see me walking up it in the last pic, it was one of the few places where the original building really shone.

I’d love to know what you think, have you been or are you planning to go?

Here are a few pics.
