Nature Morte – Rethinking the still life

I’m proud to announce that I’ll be exhibiting my new metal works for the first time in the UK at ‘Nature Morte – Rethinking Still Life exhibition’ in the gallery space at Pitfield London from 12th May until the 20th of June.  There’ll be a drinks reception on 5 June, so save the date.

Inspired by a childhood visit to the British Museum exhibition ‘The Gold of El Dorado’, this exhibition celebrates the alchemy of transforming everyday materials into precious objects and consists of a collection of pieces made from untreated brass, which I’ve transformed into an intricate and incredibly detailed collection of delicate skulls. The artwork itself and a range of collaborative items made exclusively for Pitfield London will be available for purchase at the exhibition.

Pitfield London is an eclectic emporium stocking beautiful, unique and attention-grabbing homewares. Launched in December 2011, it attracts the creative and curious. Presenting colour, glamour, glitz and excitement, visitors are immediately immersed in a world where everything is retro and riveting, dramatic and daring. Owned and curated by celebrated interior designer Shaun Clarkson and textile designer Paul Brewster, their choices for the store are inspiring and incredibly rich in cultural and historical references. The interiors and lifestyle shop houses unique vintage finds, design ideas, reworked furniture, inspiring gifts and much more. Also on site is a café and exhibition gallery; the café is an extension of the Pitfield concept, creating a community umbrella and inspired gathering place to socialise or work. The gallery space offers pure fantasy and escapism, displaying a constantly rotating exhibition of local London designers, craftspeople, photographers and artists. Pitfield London collaborates with varied creatives, producing original products and showcasing fresh talent allowing each designer to leave a legacy in store. Pitfield’s installations and vignettes are focused around colour, unusual products and breathtaking design.
